In The NewsCockpit Classroom!(31st March 2009) A school in Stoke on Trent has take a novel approach to building a new classroom -- buying in a decomissed Shorts360 to be fitted out as teaching space. (And at less than £20,000 it was half the £40,000 cost of a traditional mobile classroom!) Boeing and RAeS launch two new Build-a-Plane Projects(17th December 2008) "The ‘Schools Build a Plane Challenge’ to educate and inspire school children, through a practical challenge to manufacture and fly a light aircraft. Launched as a national competition to bid for two aircraft kits during 2009, the challenge will promote air-mindedness in young people aged between 14 and 18." Colleges tackle aerospace skills"Two Welsh colleges are joining forces in a bid to equip people with fresh skills for the aerospace industry. Barry College in the Vale of Glamorgan and Deeside College, Flintshire, will be offering training in both manufacturing and maintenance." Is it a bird? Is it a plane?Swansea College (14th March 2008) "To mark the end of National Science and Engineering Week Swansea College hosted the ‘grand final’ of the popular Paper Helicopter Challenge. The challenge, open to Years 7 and 8 pupils, was to design a paper helicopter using only a single sheet of A4 paper and limited stationery such as paper clips, glue and sticky tape. The helicopter that flies for the longest time is the winner."
